Hi my name is Simon and I am the Accessibility Manager with People Outdoors based in Ballarat. I have been with the Australian Camps Association and People Outdoors since February 2020.

I have worked in the outdoors industry for almost 20 years from kids camps and disability groups in Australia to guiding and working with remote communities in the wilds of Africa, Asia and South America.

I love the outdoors - from the simple pleasure of a walk on a beach, to exploring high places or paddling oceans in Kayaks, there's always something new and beautiful to find in nature, something to share, something wonderful to find and connections to forge.

People Outdoors Ballarat has established access to camps, staff and loads of cool programs in Ballarat and the western area for kids, teens and adults living with disability. I am responsible for establishing and growing People Outdoors in regional areas and day to day operations of the Ballarat Office.

I love the Western area which has so many accessible natural spaces and activities on offer and I am keen to share them. I am so grateful for the dedicated staff and support this office has received since we started in 2020. I have the pleasure of working with a wonderful growing team of disability support workers.  We now have over 15 casual staff, and are offering 12 camps and day events this year in the western region across a variety of venues, environments and seasons.

We are excited for 2022 and despite the rocky start we have all felt ready to get outdoors and have some fun! We hope you will join us to connect, refresh and stay healthy, having new experiences and adventures. I look forward to seeing you soon.
